Kuala Lumpur: Two University Malaya first year students pleaded not guilty at the Sessions Court here Tuesday to two counts of attempting to commit mischief and trespassing the Islamic Studies Academy Faculty last week.
Mohamad Izzuddin Hilmi, 21, and Muhammad Syahrul Denn Ahmad Rosli, 21, who were students of the faculty, were charged with committing the offences with three others still at large at about 4am on June 24.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Mazlan Jamaluddin recommended RM10,000 bail on each accused but defence lawyer Mohamad Arfizi Mohd Ramli said:
"Their families didn't know what charges were to be laid and a high amount of bail will be a burden to them since they also have to support other children."
Judge Rosbiahanim Arifin fixed the bail at RM5,000 with one surety each and July 13 for remention.- Bernama
